| December is such a good month! Today is my son Cory's TWENTIETH Birthday!! He's not a 'teen' anymore!!! Send him LOTS of love! He hasn't been feeling well, is in the middle of exams, and needs prayer, encouragement and YOUR c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s! And he deserves them because he is one absolutely great young man. (and I don't care if that does embarrass him! As a mom I can get away with a lot!). | | |
| The Best daughter in the world (MINE!) turned 18 today!!! Jessica has blessed my life more then I ever knew was possible. Send her love please! | | |
| Well, it's been quite a while since I updated. I'd love to say that is because I've been busy working...but actually, I've had a couple of weeks of rest & relaxation.
Jessica and I traveled to Arizona to visit several colleges. Two of the schools were hits; Grand Canyon University in Phoenix (go figure) and NASU in Flagstaff. ASU was NOT a hit...way to big for Jessie's taste. We had a great time with Randy...even helped him pick out some cactus for his 'garden'. Actually, we picked the cactus out of our hands and legs as well!
Thanksgiving was very nice. Cory has probably had better vacations...he had all four of his wisdom teeth pulled the second day he was back. It did prove, however, to be a relaxing time for him. Drugged with vicodin he lay on the couch most of the week. And you know what? (confession time) it was actually kind of nice to have Cory layed up....I haven't spent this much time with him in years! :) He spent the week watching season 1 of Lost and OC. Okay, lol, we ALL watched OC and I am embarassed to say that I became totally hooked on the show (thanks Meredith!)...From what I've heard about some developments coming up, my new obsession with this show may not last!
So, the week was good...Cory had no swelling, no dry socket....but plenty of friends who stopped by to visit with him and the family.
Our Thanksgiving was on Saturday....hoping that Cory would at least be able to 'gum' his food by then! It was a gathering of many of our very special friends and I felt very blessed to have them with us.
Special highlights: seeing Hadassah, Nate, Emily, and finally...Ivy! Ivy is simply beautiful and it was so special to see yet 'the next generation'. Aliza, Oren, and Josh also came by....*sigh*, I miss ALL of you so much but it's so wonderful to see you all as young adults now... AJ, Sarah, Meredith, Jerrod, Lauren, Megan, Brandon, Andy (sorry for all the questions!), I love you all! You too Ted...though you're one person I didn't see this week!
I'm sure I'm leaving out something....but that's it for now.
OH! One more thing....my last post, supposedly about Albert Einstein was NOT TRUE...but simply a very popular story. For those of you who read that post, I apologize. It came from what has always been a reliable source but we all make mistakes!
I love you all! Leave me comments....I'm lonesome now that so many of you are gone. For those of you living HERE, you'd better not stop coming by.

| Please read this...I thought it was wonderful...and surprising!
love to all, Sherry
A University professor at a well known institution of higher learning challenged his students with this question: "Did God create everything that exists?"
A student bravely replied, "Yes he did!"
"God created everything?" the professor asked.
"Yes sir, He certainly did," the student replied.
The professor answered, "If God created everything, then God created evil. And, since evil exists, and according to the principal that our works define who we are, then we can assume God is evil." The student became quiet and did not answer the professor's hypothetical definition. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the faith in God was a myth. Another student raised his hand and said, "May I ask you a question, professor?"
"Of course," replied the professor.
The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"
"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?" The other students snickered at the young man's question.
The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-460 F) is the total absence of heat; all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat."
The student continued, "Professor, does darkness exist?"
The professor responded, "Of course it does."
The student replied, "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."
Finally the young man asked the professor, "Sir, does evil exist?"
Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course, as I have already said. We see it everyday. It is in the daily examples of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.”
To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist, sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat, or the darkness that comes when there is no light."
The professor sat down.

The young man's name -- Albert Einstein.

| Not a very good weekend here....my tooth that has been bothering me for quite a while decided to bother me even more. End result, the dentist took me in on an emergency basis this morning and then sent me to someone to have it pulled (evidentally it was beyond hope). The good news is that when I drank an ice cold drink later, it didn't hurt my tooth at all! :) Oh wait...that's because it's not there! lol
Jessie and I leave for Arizona to look at colleges on Wednesday. Pray for a safe trip and that God shows Jessica which college is right for her. I'm excited! A few days with my daughter and my brother (who lives in AZ). For those of you who know Randy (and that would be most of you!)...you KNOW that means a fun time!
In the meantime, I wait to hear from my son Cory about a man who has been....hmmm....'pursuing?" him for some business purpose....seems very strange but this person is driving from Centerville to Granville tonight to meet with Cory (in a public place!). Personally, I think it sounds like Amway.
Have a good evening...I'm going to take a vicodan and go to bed! | | |
